Today Wordle No. 1167 Hints and Answer for August 29, 2024

Hello everyone! It’s Thursday, August 29th, 2024, and it’s time to dive into today's Wordle puzzle. Before we begin, let’s explore some hints to guide us through the challenge:

Today Wordle Hints

  • Number of Vowels: The answer contains one vowel.
  • First Letter: The answer starts with the letter F.
  • Repeated Letters: There are no repeated letters in the answer.
  • Other Letter Clues: The letters L, N, and K are included but not necessarily in that order.

Starting Strong with "Tenor"

As always, I began today's Wordle game with high hopes. Our friend Terce Cat, an amateur singer and former piano student, suggested starting with the word "Tenor." This word has some fantastic letters and relates to music, which is always a plus for me.

After typing in "Tenor," I quickly saw that while it wasn't the correct answer, we did manage to get an "N" out of position. This was progress! The first step in narrowing down our options.

Trying Out "Snail"

Next up, I decided to try the word "Snail." This guess seemed like a logical step forward, considering the presence of the "N." Unfortunately, "Snail" wasn’t the answer either, but it did reveal that the letter "L" was also in the mix, though still out of position.

Narrowing Down the Vowels

With "A," "E," "I," and "O" eliminated, it became clear that the vowel in the answer was either "U" or possibly "Y." The process of elimination is key here, and I decided to focus on finding where that "U" might fit in.

The Evaluation Guess: "Lumen"

To gather more information, I chose "Lumen" as an evaluation guess. Even though I knew it wouldn’t be the final answer due to the "E," this guess would help me determine the placement of the "L" and "N" and confirm if "U" was indeed part of the solution. Sure enough, "U" lit up, but out of position, while "L" and "N" remained elusive.

A Breakthrough with "Clunk"

At this point, it was clear that "L" and "N" needed to be in specific positions, and the "U" likely had to be in the third or fourth spot. After considering various combinations, I settled on the word "Clunk." This guess was crucial because it tested several possibilities at once, especially since I was down to my last two attempts.

Unfortunately, "Clunk" wasn’t the answer, but it revealed that "L," "N," and "K" were all in the right places, leaving just the first letter to solve.

The Final Guess: "Flunk"

With all the clues lined up, the only remaining word that fit the criteria was "Flunk." I typed it in with bated breath, and… success! The answer to today’s puzzle was indeed "Flunk." It was a tense moment, but I was thrilled to have solved it.

Wrapping It Up

That was a close call, but we didn’t flunk the challenge! I’d like to extend a big thank you to Terce for the excellent suggestion of "Tenor." It set us off on a wild ride, and that's exactly what makes Wordle so much fun.

How did you do today? Did you manage to avoid a "flunk," or did you have to work your way through some tricky guesses? Let me know your thoughts and your favorite starting words.

Tomorrow is Fearless Friday, and I’ll be starting with the word "Fizzy." Be sure to join me for what promises to be another exciting puzzle. Until then, rest up, and I’ll see you tomorrow for some more Wordle fun!
