First Guess: Rainy
Second Guess: Ferry
With the R out of position and the Y locked in, I decide to go with 'ferry.' This will not only help determine if there’s a double R, but it will also provide clarity on the placement of the existing R. If an R belongs in the second spot, the double R in 'ferry' should give us one yellow and one gray, effectively confirming its position. It’s a solid strategy that should narrow things down significantly.
The result? We now know that the word does indeed contain a double R, ending in RY. That’s a big clue. However, I’m surprised that the letter preceding 'RY' is not A, I, or E. That rules out many of the common words I was considering. This leaves me with an unusual letter combination to work with. The idea of 'LORRY' comes to mind, though it feels a bit out of place. Another possibility is 'FURRY,' but we’ve already ruled out F. Time to take a closer look at our remaining options.
Third Guess: Hurry
I started considering URRY words, and 'hurry' seems like a strong candidate. It fits the pattern perfectly, and there aren’t many other words that could match. Feeling quite confident, I enter the guess, expecting a quick solution.
But no! 'Hurry' is incorrect. That’s a surprising miss, and it means we’re still not there yet. The good news is that we now know the second letter must be an O. This means our word follows the structure O-R-R-Y, which still leaves us with a few possibilities. However, now I have reason to be a little worried.
Fourth Guess: Worry
With O-R-R-Y confirmed, I realize that the most logical words left are 'worry' and 'sorry.' There’s also a slight chance of 'lorry,' but 'worry' seems like the best option to try next. If it’s correct, we’re done. If it’s not, we’ll have our answer down to just one remaining word.
So, is the answer 'worry'? No, it isn’t. But that officially leaves us with only one clear possibility: 'sorry.'
Fifth Guess: Sorry
It all comes down to this final guess. I type in 'sorry,' hoping that this is the correct answer. And sure enough, it is! After what looked like it might be a quick solve, we ended up in a tense four-letter situation once again. We had just enough runway to work with, but it certainly got a little stressful there for a moment. Still, a win is a win, and we’ll take it.
Tomorrow Word
Another Wordle puzzle, another exciting journey. Twice in one week, we’ve gotten into these four-letter lock-in scenarios, and while it wasn’t as smooth as I’d hoped, we managed to pull through. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring a more straightforward solve. Speaking of which, our starting word for Sunday will be 'solid'—hopefully a solid choice indeed.
